Theoretical investigations of firing and destruction of thin polymer film by heating with radiant energy beam have been carried out. Analytical estimations have been obtained for two components of general time of film firing: the induction period and adiabatic heating up time. The mathematical model and numerical solutions have been obtained for the complex scheme of chemical reactions. The beam width and irradiation intensity, as well as the change of optical characteristics as a result of chemical transformations, are found to influence significantly on ignition processes in polymer film.
