Abstract
The experimental investigation of heat transfer in condensation of Freon-12 and 21 on nine horizontal finned cylinders is described. It is shown that the effect of surface tension on the heat transfer area and on the coefficient of heat transfer of a finned cylinder varies, depending on the ratio of the interfin distance to the capillary constant of the condensate. This factor is responsible for the decrease of the heat transfer coefficient on tubes situated within (i. e. , below the surface row) a finned tube bundle.
