Experimental investigation of effect of external circuit on the oscillation process in a triode with a virtual cathode

Abstract

This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation of the effect of the vacuum chamber, which is one element of the external circuit of a triode, on the generation process of microwave radiation. It is shown that the geometry of the vacuum chamber and its shape determine the magnitude of the starting currents, the power level and the directivity of the generated radiation.
