The experimental results are presented on determining coke strength of a typical charring rubber-like heat-shielding material. On the basis of a calculation study with using the obtained experimental data, the temperature region corresponding to the zone of the minimum coke strength of charring polymer materials is selected. The regimes of thermochemical and thermomechanical destructions are revealed. A failure coke mechanism of charring rubber-like materials is found.
