Evaluation of the microhardness of ion-implanted metals

Abstract

A simple model for the evaluation of the microhardness and yield strength of ion-implanted metals is presented. Experimental measurements of the microhardness of ion-implanted α-Fe are compared with results of calculations. Disagreement between the measured and calculated microhardness does not exceed 30%.
