Enhancement of TiN coatings adhesion on hard alloy tools preliminary irradiated with power ion beam

Abstract

Results of the scratch-tests of TiN coating on hard alloy tools preliminary treated with power pulsed ion beam have been presented. It is shown that the preliminary ion treatment increases the coatings adhesion and changes their fracture mode. The nonresharpened cutting plates from VK-8 and T5K10 hard alloys were used as the objects of investigation.
