The experimental results on heat transfer during film condensation of stationary pure vapor on the banks of horizontal tubes with transversal fins are reported. The height of the liquid layer retained constantly between the fins is measured. The ratio between the interfin spacing and the liquid capillary constant is found to affect heat transfer significantly. During vapor condensation on the tubes under conditions of liquid pouring, the heat transfer decrease over the band depth is minimum for the values of this ratio, ranging from 0.4 to 1.0. The basic mechanisms of the effect of pouring density on heat transfer are found. The technique of experimental data processing based on the determining effect of surface tension on liquid film motion is suggested.
