Electron-beam facing of the composite coatings on the base of titanium diboride

Abstract

Structure and properties of 'titanium diboride-metal binder' coatings deposited by multilayer electron-beam fusing (EBF) on low carbon steel 3 substrate have been investigated. Phase composition, morphology and microhardness of the main structure components of the coatings were determined. Surfacing structure is shown to be depending on components ratio in initial Ti-B-Fe mixture. Structure and properties of EBF-coatings can be improved significantly by means of alloying the eutectic surfacing.
