Electron absorption spectra of aminobenzaldehydes and formylcarbazoles

Abstract

N,N-Disubstituted p-aminobenzaldehydes and formylcarbazoles are protonated at carbonyl group. The structure of conjugate acids thereof is of quinonimine character unlike that of the conjugate acids of unsubstituted and substituted benzaldehydes.
