Electromagnetic wave amplification in a coaxial triode with the virtual cathode

Abstract

Amplification of electromagnetic waves in a coaxial triode with the virtual cathode is studied by the method of kinetic equation. A parameter region of the most effective amplification of E- and H-waves is determined. Electromagnetic wave amplification in a coaxial triode with the virtual cathode is shown to be realized at the main frequency of virtual cathode oscillations. Axial-asymmetric H-waves with maximum number of an azimuth harmonic have the largest power of forced radiation. Preliminary modulation of the electron flow increases the forced radiation power by 25%.
