Electromagnetic harbinger of rock caving

Abstract

The characteristics of electromagnetic signal caused by occurence and variation of the dipole moment of cracks, the edges of which are charged in discontinuity, are studied analytically. A model is developed for description of rock caving phenomenon that allows to predict the rock caving using electromagnetic harbinger. In the scope of theories of reliability and percolution the problem of synchronous performance of elementary radiation sources is solved which is important for earthquake forecasting practice.
