Abstract

Room-and-pillar mining for the coal seams development in Russian mines still isn`t popular despite a a variety of its advantages. The existing technol ogy of coal pillar extraction is the limiting factor, followed by high levels of both industrial hazards and losses of geo-resources. Applying techno logical schemes do not provide extraction of the longwall block for more than 50-60%. Other countries use the technology with temporary holding the roof of the working area with self-propelled supports, which makes it possible to increase the recovery rate to 90% or more in compliance with safety requirements. Assimilation the production of similar machines with the best parameters by domestic machine-building plants allows developing advanced technology of subsoil use.
