Abstract
The effect of various levels of initial turbulence on the degeneration of velocity pulsations in converging tubes with various ratios of contraction has been studied experimentally. The results of the experiments give evidence of a strong influence of turbulence degree upon the longitudinal pulsations of velocity and of its weaker influence upon the transverse ones. The experimental data demonstrate, that the theory of rapid distortion is inapplicable to this case unless it allows for energy dissipation, the integral scale, and the extent of anisotropy.
