Effect of an axial magnetic field on the K-shell radiation of a neon double gas puff

Abstract

Optimization of the neon A'-shell radiation yield and power was performed in double shell gas puff experiments with and without axial magnetic field on the IMRI-5 generator at a current level of 400 kA and a current risetime of 430 ns. Optimum parameters of a double gas puff with an axial magnetic field have been found that provide both implosion stability and a K-shell yield comparable to the expected K-shell yield for a generator with a risetime of 100 ns.
