Abstract
The model of the process of interaction of powerful ion beams with a metallic absorber is briefly discussed. The model is used to calculate the effect on mixed (proton-carbon) and monocompound (proton) beams on aluminum. Two screening layers were detected in the case of the mixed beam; their formation mechanism is described. The results show that the parameters of the resultant plasma depend strongly on the content of the components H+ and C+ in the beam.
