Determination of a phase shift between two nonsinusoidal signals represented by digital counts

Abstract

Applicability of the previously developed method of determining a phase shift based on the use of the Telleggen quasipower theorem for an analysis of nonsinusoidal signals is examined. Two new methods of calculating the phase shift between nonsinusoidal signals based on the Fourier transform of signals with the subsequent determination of zero crossing points and on the direct determination of zero crossing points with the help of linear interpolation of the examined signals are suggested. The accuracy of the suggested methods is estimated. It is demonstrated that the method based on the Fourier transform of signals has higher accuracy in comparison with other methods.
