Abstract
A study was conducted to demonstrate desorption of hot deuterium atoms from the Pd/PdO:Dx heterostructure under excitation of its hydrogen subsystem. The yield of 3-MeV protons as a result of DD reaction was measured for the first time in the study. The main objective of the investigation was to verify the conclusion on the possibility to accelerate deuterons in the process of their desorption as a result of the excitation of the hydrogen subsystem of the Pd/PdO:Dx deuteride. The performed measurements allowed researchers to estimate the mean kinetic energy of D ions that were being described in the investigation. CR-39 plastic track detectors were employed to conduct the investigation and the results obtained showed the heating of hydrogen atoms under the excitation of the hydrogen subsystem in Pd/PdO:D x samples.
