Description of a shock loading of metals by pulsed ion beam in the context of a combined elastohydrodynamic model

Abstract

Patterns of two-polar pressure pulse forming that is due to metal shock loading by pulsed nsec-duration ion beam in power range 108-1010 W/cm2 are numerically investigated. Study of this process is based on the approach which takes into account simultaneously a competitive elastic and hydrodynamic processes induced by the beam. Comparison of amplitude-time parameters induced by nsec-duration proton-carbon beam in metal with experimental results of intensive mechanical disturbances was made.
