Abstract
Luminescence spectra of macrocyclic bis(indocarbocyanines) containing unlinked parallel chromophores bound at both ends by dimethylene and tetramethylene bridges are studied. It is shown on the basis of the external heavy-atom effect that the probability of the population of triplet states in these compounds is considerably higher than that in similar compounds with an angular arrangement of chromophores. An explanation for such a difference is given. The E-type delayed fluorescence of macrocyclic bis(indocarbocyanines) is found and studied at room temperature.
