Deformation of water-filled tubes with electrical pulse discharges

Abstract

The process of water-filled brass tubes deforming under effect of some electrical pulse discharges with different pulse energy is reviewed. It is shown, that such tubes can be deformed gradually up to tearing with pulses of less than 1 kJ energy. It is suggested that a basic pressurizing source accountable for the deformation of brass tubes is the expanding steam-gaseous vacuity.
