Abstract
For the management of social or educational resources of a region for different levels of managers multidimensional information is needed. For effective analyses of this information and for decision making the geo-informational system (GIS) was developed. It offers the geo-informational features for a wide range of Internet users in their work with information for social sphere description. The GIS combines the advantages of Web and GIS technologies, such as a large amount of potential users, common interface and advanced features of information visualization including cartographical. For work with the GIS only a Web browser is needed. Several features of the system are: multi-user data access; operation with spatially-attached information; metadata actualization; data input (load); and using the data warehouse concept. On the present implementation phase the information of the National Statistics Committee of the Tomsk region is taken as basic data.
