Crystal strength thermodynamic criteria: nonhydrostatic compression

Theoretical analysis of crystal ultimate strength under nonhydrostatic compression is given. Authors of the article bundle with special ductile mechanism. Such mechanism consists in recristallization through ″virtual″ liquid phase. Relation between proposed strength criteria and crystal strength criteria after Born was analysed. Such relation means positivity squares of phonon frequencies and the meanings of elastic constants matrix. The movement of a foreign inclusion is found in KCl, NaCl, KBr crystals under gravity in the range of premelting temperatures.
