Copolymerization of indene with dicyclopentadiene under the action of the catalyst system TiCl4-AlEt2Cl

Abstract

Copolymerization of indene and dicyclopentadiene was studied in toluene solution under the action of the catalyst system Et2AlCl-TiCl 4. It is established that in this case alternating copolymers formed, and the dicyclopentadiene is more active monomer in the mixture. It is concluded that the ratio of dicyclopentadiene to indene equal 0.58:0.42 corresponds to the azeotropic point in the curve of the copolymer, as well as the heat dissipation in the system extremely dependent on the content of dicyclopentadiene in the copolymer.
