Constructions of mobile roof holders for mining coal undeveloped deposit in a chamber-and-pillar seam development system

Abstract

Presented as a promising for the Russian mines chamber-and-pillar system for the development of coal seams. The success of its use in foreign mines, provided by the active development of mining engineering and technical upgrading of faces, are shown. In particular, it was possible to increase the level of coal extraction from inter-chamber pillars to 90% or more while ensuring safety of work thanks to the use of modern mobile roof holders. Several promising designs of mobile roof holders for domestic mines are described. The necessity and directions for their further improvement are presented.
