Abstract

Within the framework of planning of the State Bank for Digital Geological Information (SBDGI) work is being done on organizing a Far Eastern regional bank with a petroleum specialization. The work is being done at the Dalinformgeotsentr State Enterprise (SE), having at its disposition timely archival and manuscript geological exploration materials for Far Eastern areas promising with respect to the finding of oil and gas. The purposeful objective of the work is ensuring the preservation and effective use of geoinformation by the use of GIS technologies, commercial databank management systems and a network system for the import and export of information. A conceptual model of a system of computer databases has been developed. An estimate of the volumes of retrospective information is given and the stages in the work up to the year 2000 are defined.
