Composite apatite-diopside glass ceramic biomaterials

Abstract

In the paper, the results of developing glass ceramic materials for medicine are presented. The effect of the liquid phase composition on hydroxyapatite-tricalcium phosphate transformation upon sintering of composite materials was estimated. It is shown that the structural-mechanical properties, bioactivity and time of the implant resorption can be controlled by changing ratio of hydroxyapatite and diopside glass ceramics in the biomaterials.
