Abstract
The paper is dedicated to the centenary of the chair of silicate technology of the Tomsk Polytechnic University. The chair was founded in 1902 as a laboratory of chemical engineering of mineral compounds in the Tomsk Technological Institute. It is noted that the Chair is scientific, education, and coordination center of the region beyond the Ural in the field of investigation of clays, nonplastic silicate raw materials, and development of new types of structural ceramics, thermal insulating materials, and ceramic dielectrics based on natural resources.
