Abstract
Electron microscopic examination was accomplished to investigate the morphology of cementite phase which precipitated in steel type 38KhN3MFA quenched in oil from 820-1200 ° C austenization temperature with subsequent tempering within the range of 200 to 550 ° C. In quenched steel cementite precipitates were observed as inside of martensite crystals so at their boundaries in the form of thin interlayers. Tempering at 300-350 ° C promoted coagulation of cementite particles and led not only to variation of average size of the precipitates but also to a change of their shape.
