Abstract
The effect of the dielectric permeability of the soil on the distribution of the field potential excited by the lightning pulse current is considered. Formulas are presented for the calculation of the potential as a function of time for a homogeneous and a two-layered soil. It is shown that consideration of the dielectric permeability of the soils with the conductivity gamma less than 10** minus **3 1/Ohm multiplied by (times) m considerably changes the potential impulsefront by amplitude and duration.
