ATTENUATION OF HIGH-ENERGY X RAYS BY IRON SHIELDING.

Abstract

Monte Carlo calculations are presented on electron-accelerator x-ray spectra for actual target thicknesses and electron energies of 4-50 MeV. Effective attenuation coefficients have been obtained as well as build-up factors for collimated beams and iron shielding of thickness from 1 to 80 cm. The radiation contrast has been determined as a function of thickness for this energy range.
