Approximation of an analytical signal shaped as an asymmetric peak with the use of a modified derivative of the logistic function

Abstract

To provide a more accurate description of an analytical signal shaped as an asymmetric peak, a modified derivative of the logistic function was proposed. This function describes asymmetric peaks with different characteristics of kurtosis. A number of recommendations are given for the optimum computer implementation of the proposed function in analytical practice. It is shown that real asymmetric peaks obtained in stripping voltammetry and chromatography can be adequately described using a modified derivative of the logistic function.
