Abstract
Basic approximations used in calculating the amplitudes of the reactions A(γ, π)B in the DWIA are considered. A critical analysis of these approximations, which lead to markedly different cross-section values for the same reaction, makes it possible to construct an implementation of the DWIA in such a way that it correctly takes into account final-state interaction in the coherent photoproduction of π and η mesons on nuclei over a wide range of incident-photon energies.
