Application of surface images spectrum analysis for studying the fatigue failure at the mesoscale level

Abstract

It is suggested to estimate the processes intensity of plastic deformation, developed under the conditions of fatigue failure, with using of some numerical characteristics. These characteristics are obtained by two-dimensional power spectrum analysis of an optical surface images series. It is shown that the fatigue crack presence as a small-informative region on an image does not affect practically calculation results of the power spectrum energetic characteristics.
