Abstract
A new type of adsorbent for gas chromatography, namely, silica gel modified with metal chelates, is proposed, and the behavior on this adsorbent of various classes of organic compounds is investigated under conditions of steam carrier-gas chromatography. It is shown that the use of water vapor as a mobile phase provides a more rapid determination of alkanes and alcohols without decreasing selectivity. The maximum speed was observed for a column packed with Silipor 075 modified with 5% of nickel dimethylglyoximate.
