Abstract
This paper presents an analytical investigation of the absorption properties of resonantly absorbing media, without considering the multi-wave interaction effects. It is shown that in resonance fractal media, the dependence of the absorption properties on geometrical structure is likely a result of the transient interactions of optical radiation with the medium. This mechanism is induced by the time variations of the resonant component of the refractive index in the coherent transient process domain. The transmission of the media is a monotonic function of its Hausdorff dimensionality.
