A dilatometric study of the effect of pressing on the kinetics of compression of ultrafine zirconium doxide powders under thermal annealing

Abstract

Using the method of dilatometry, the sintering kinetics of ultrafine zirconium-dioxide powders compacted under different static compressive pressures is investigated. It is shown that in the stage of isothermal tempering the linear size of the sintered specimens increases with the compressive pressure. The elevated compressive pressure is observed to reduce the relative density of the sintered ceramic material and its microhardness.
